Bruce Gowlett
Hey, how are you doing? 😊 I’m Bruce.
I grew up in country NSW and spent more than 20 years living and working with community building in Asia before making the move to sunny Qld.
I’ve always had a passion for working in human services and community development – across a whole spectrum of youth work, adult group work, chaplaincy, education, training, disability and mental health.
I moved to the Gympie region in 2019 with the roll-out of the NDIS here, to help promote and educate the community around the scheme, help support local people with disability to access the scheme and to link participants to the supports and services that NDIS funding makes possible for them. I found my home with the ADAPT team from the beginning of 2020; and love the growing family of people I work with, both colleagues and clients.
I really enjoy hanging out with friends and family, catching up over great food, deep conversations and light-hearted fun; and getting into nature both on foot and through country drives. I balance out the social side with times of retreating to my own little corner of paradise to put my feet up while I watch a new streaming series, hit the yard to play with my very active golden retriever, Geralt; or just enjoy lying in a hammock looking up at the trees.
My life motto has been “make a difference” … I thrive in seeing others thrive. My passion is to ensure all I do contributes to the quality, enjoyment and fulfilment of life for individuals, and the health, effectiveness and connectedness of organisations and communities.
