Jaimi K.
I grew up in Southwest Sydney. I am a mum of 3 kids who have kept me very busy over the past few years. I moved to Gympie with my children in late 2018, for a fresh start and a big change in our journeys. I have worked in many varying roles from childcare, retail management, and hospitality management. Each of these roles has enabled me to work with people, which is where I feel I am best suited.
2020 brought about a lot of change in my life, changing my direction both personally and professionally. Having lived experiences with a range of challenges including mental health and domestic violence, I believe my own recovery journey helps me to support our participants in recognizing and utilising their own strengths and abilities. I joined the ADAPT family in late 2020 as a support worker, before moving into my current role as a group facilitator and client services manager in late 2021.
I am currently in the 3rd year of a Bachelor of Social Work at the University of Sunshine Coast. I have a passion for promoting equality and inclusion for all individuals in our community. I enjoy working within complex systems and assisting participants to navigate a range of challenging situations.
In my spare time, I love heading out to try different cuisines (the range of options is one thing I miss the most about Sydney life!) or spending time out in the sunshine by the water with my kids. This is how I reset after busy work weeks.
